Captain Paul Schlafley has over 40 years experience fishing lake Michigan. Paul is a native to the Manistee area. Having been raised right on the Manistee River channel, his parents owned Riverside Motel & Marina and then Paul bought it from his folks and ran it for 10 years. Paul has a lifetime of fishing experience. Ludington Michigan Tournament Winner. As a boy, he was a fishing fanatic, you would always find him fishing the piers at Manistee or traversing the shores of the Manistee River.

We have three boats

We will fish the river from now till the first part of April. We will fish fish for the Browns in the Hewes craft, when the water sets up and when weather permits the 38’ will go in. Call for dates and rates. They vary depending on the time of year and how many people.. Booking brown trips for April now. Spring rates till June 19, th. Then the lake rates will be a flat fee.

Usually we are fishing browns by now, but the weather and water are not cooperating. Had to cancel a few trips for the Browns already. Got one scheduled for next week as well and it’s not looking good. For Brown trout fishing the conditions need to be just right and it just not happening yet. So be patient if we cancel, some times it’s the waves and the weather some times its cause the water is to cold and the fish are not here yet. We want you to have the best experience possible. This cold weather seems to want to hang on. 😢

Had this group of gals out this past weekend. They are a great group. The fishing was not on fire, but they did manage to land a few. One gal caught her first Steelhead as well. They did amazing on the rods too! We ended up canceling the second day, but they are coming back in a few weeks to try it again. Thanks ladies!
